Lesson on mushrooms performed

A lesson on mushrooms of Latvia took place on October 2, 2014 in the Information center of Dviete floodplain nature park, „Gulbji" farm of Bebrene parish, led by Edgars Mūkins, a member of Latvian Mycological society. 33 persons participated.

Participants could refresh their knowledge on common edible mushroom species, get knowledge on several rare edible mushrooms and learn to identify poisonous mushrooms. Lecturer also told about protected mushroom species of Latvia and the fungi of the year 2014 - Boletus projectellus. The lecture was illustrated with mushroom photos taken by Edgars Mūkins. Participants could look and touch about 50 different mushrooms, picked by Anita Skrimble and Viktors Malaševskis. At the end of the lesson participants were feast with mushroom soup, made by Violeta Zviedrāne and Laila Bidzāne.
