Herd in winter

Dviete floodplain grasslands are covered with thick ice this winter due to their over-flooding before frost. So, only branches and bark of bushes and trees, as well as shoots of bushes, cut during last winter, are available for grazing animals - 'Konik' horses and cattle. Browsing scrubs and their shoots, animals prevent overgrowing of grasslands. Still in winters, severe and rich of snow, as it is now, it is necessary to provide additional food. 370 rolls of hay are already used in both grazing areas in total this winter.
