Outlook platform is opened for visitors
An outlook platform at the Information centre of Dviete floodplain nature park, located in „Gulbji' farm of Bebrene parish, was opened on November 14, 2012. It is built within the DVIETE LIFE+ project to demonstrate restored grassland areas and Dviete river section, planned for restoration. Stefans Rāzna, chairman of Ilūkste municipality, Albīne Riņķe, the land-owner, constructors, LIFE+ project beneficiaries, a representative of Nature Protection Board, local people and other interested people took part in the event (about 50 persons in total).
Event was opened by Edmunds Račinskis, manager of the LIFE+ project, expressing his gratitude to Albīne Riņķe, owner of the land of the Information centre and outlook platform, for support to the development of Dviete floodplain nature park. Benita Štrausa, local co-ordinator of the project, thanked constructors of the platform - Juris Segliņš and Gints Apīnis. After a speech of Stefans Rāzna, within which chairman of Ilūkste municipality acknowledged Dviete floodplain as most valuable nature object in the area of municipality, he opened the platform together with Albīne Riņķe, owner of “Gulbji” farm, cutting the ribbon.
After taking a look on Dviete floodplain landscape from the new-built platform, participants went to the premises of Information centre, where another event of the project took place - Dr. biol. Gunārs Pētersons from Latvian University of Agriculture gave illustrated presentation about bats.
